PIAA District 6 released its basketball playoff schedule, and one boys’ and two girls’ Heritage Conference teams will tip off the tournament on Monday.
The Homer-Center boys’ team, ranked No. 9, will open the 2A bracket at No. 8 Claysburg Kimmel on Monday (7 p.m.), with the winner moving to the quarterfinal round at No. 1 United, the Heritage Conference champion, on Wednesday (7 p.m.). In girls’ action Monday, No. 8 Purchase Line travels to top-ranked Williamsburg in a 1A quarterfinal and No. 10 Marion Center visits No. 7 Glendale in a 2A first-round game.
Only one Indiana County team will be in action on Tuesday, as No. 6 Penns Manor battles No. 3 Saint Josephs in the quarterfinals at Bald Eagle Area (7 p.m.). Also on Tuesday, No. 1 Portage plays host to No. 8 Conemaugh Valley in the 1A boys’ quarterfinals.
Other than United vs the Homer-Center/Claysburg Kimmel winner on Wednesday, Northern Cambria and West Shamokin boys’ will play in 2A boys’ quarterfinals games. The No. 7 Colts visits No. 2 Southern Huntingdon (7 p.m.) and No. 6 West Shamokin travels to No. 3 West Branch (7 p.m.).
On Thursday, Heritage Conference girls’ runner-up Homer-Center, the No. 5 seed, travels to No. 4 Southern Huntingdon (7 p.m.) in 2A quarterfinal action, while No. 2 Portage plays host to the Marion Center/Glendale winner (7 p.m.). A big local matchup will feature No. 6 United at No. 3 Penns Manor (7 p.m.) in another 2A quarterfinal. Heritage Conference champion and third-seeded River Valley will play host to No. 6 Tyrone (7 p.m.) in the 3A quarterfinals.
Finally on Friday, No. 7 River Valley goes to No. 2 Penn Cambria for a 3A boys’ quarterfinal (7 p.m.).
