Power outages are being reported in some communities along the Indiana County border this morning.
Penelec’s parent company FirstEnergy has not announced any specific outages or problems in Indiana County, but a major outage has been reported in Greensburg, a minor minor outage in Ligonier in Westmoreland County and a mid-major outage near Northern Cambria in Cambria County. Those outages are affecting customers in communities along the southern and eastern borders of the county.
The hardest hit area is Cherry Tree Borough in Green Township with 160 customers without power. Montgomery Township has 19 outages, Conemaugh Township reports 17, Saltsburg Borough reports just seven outages after having over 100 of them earlier today, and just a handful of outages are reported in Green and Pine townships.
Meanwhile, REA Energy is reporting 70 cooperative members without power in Armstrong Township and seven more without power in neighboring Plumcreek Township in Armstrong County.
Outages are expected to be restored by 10:30 this morning at the latest.
