At a meeting Wednesday morning, the Indiana County Commissioners approved a transfer of American Rescue Plan Act funds into the county’s general fund budget.
The transfer total came to $6,996,744.48 and is meant to replace revenues lost during the Covid-19 pandemic. Indiana County Commissioners Chairman Mike Keith talked about how important that transfer is.
Last year, the county transferred over $7.6 million to the general fund, and this leaves about $1.6 million left to pull down from the grant for future revenue replacement.
In other business, the Commissioners approved a contract with Stiffler, McGraw and Associates for $2900 to conduct asbestos testing at the former Alice Paul House facility. The testing is necessary to comply with the National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants requirements before any demolition activities begin.
The Commissioners also issued a proclamation to congratulate the Family Fun Fest organizers on the upcoming 20th annual event, scheduled for March 25th at the Indiana Mall, and a proclamation declaring April as 811 Safe Digging Month in Indiana County.
