Homer City firefighters were busy on Wednesday as they tended to two vehicle accidents, including one where a car hit a pedestrian.
The first accident was reported by Indiana County 911 at 3:20 PM near the intersection of Routes 119 south near Luther Ford. Homer Center Assistant Chief Joe Izzei, Jr. said that two vehicles were involved, with one vehicle sideways on the road, and the other about 50 yards away. No injuries were reported but fire crews had to do cleanup and direct traffic. Crews were on the scene for about 4o minutes.
Izzei said that as he was headed to the scene of that crash, another one was reported in Homer City.
State police say that a pickup truck had stopped at the intersection and was turning left onto Elm Street when it hit a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The victim, identified as a Homer City man, was flown to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for treatment. The extent of his injuries is not known, but he was conscious and awake at the scene.
State Police and Citizens’ Ambulance were on the scene for both accidents, with the Coral-Graceton Fire Department providing assistance at the crash on 119. State Police have not yet released a report on either accident.
