The Homer-Center Wildcats and the River Valley Panthers took different semifinal paths Monday night but both ended up on the same road by the end of the evening … the road to PIAA championship Thursday in Hershey.
The Homer-Center defense smothered the Montrose offense in the PIAA 2A girls’ semifinal and the Wildcats came away with a 47-13 win. Here are Todd Marino’s recap and his call of the end of the game on WCCS FM 101.1 and AM 1160.

The River Valley Panthers led at halftime, but Our Lady of Sacred Heart took the lead in the third quarter and the Panthers had to fight to regain the advantage in the fourth quarter. River Valley prevailed, 44-38. Here’s Jake Slebodnick’s recap on Cat Country 106.3 FM.
Panthers coach Ricc Brown said his team stayed resilient against a gritty Chargers team.
Brown also credited the River Valley supporters for showing up to cheer on the Panthers from the season opener to now.
Guard Ava Persichetti knew OLSH would be tough, but she also knew that the Panthers could stick with them.
Persichetti adds that it’s a unique experience for this year’s team to go to Hershey together.
Junior Emilee Staats hit a crucial three-pointer late in the fourth quarter that allowed River Valley to focus on stopping OLSH on defense. She said the feeling of moving on to the state championship game is indescribable.
