For the second time in a week, the Homer-Center baseball team fell to River Valley, this time in the opening round of the Homer-Center Boosters tournament on Friday by a score of 6-4. The winning pitcher was Hunter Riggle, who went 4+ innings, and allowed 4 walks, 3 runs and two hits, but notched eight strikeouts on the day. Gavin Burkhart got the save, going three innings, and allowing one run on two hits, hit one batter and struck out 2.
Owen Saiani took the loss for Homer-Center, going six innings and allowing five runs on four hits, and struck out six while allowing four walks.
Also in action yesterday, Redbank Valley beat Apollo Ridge 10-4.
Today, Homer-Center will play Apollo Ridge at 10:30 AM in the Consolation Game, while River Valley takes on Redbank Valley in the tournament championship at 1:00. All games will be played at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City.
