PennDOT is warning motorists of an upcoming roadwork project that is scheduled to start the day after Memorial Day.
The project in question will be a bridge replacement project for the Straight Run #2 bridge on Porterfield Road in Banks Township. Porterfield between Church Road and Glen Campbell Road will be closed until September 1st.
A traffic detour has been set up by PennDOT for the project. Motorists will travel west from the closure 1.2 miles on Porterfield Road to the stop sign. Go straight at the stop sign for another 1.6 miles. Turn right onto Dombs Hill Road and travel for 1.4 miles to a stop sign. Turn left onto Union Hill Road. Travel Union Hill Road for 1.0 mile to the stop sign. Veer right at the stop sign onto Johnsonburg Road. Travel Johnsonburg Road for 3.0 miles to a stop sign and turn right onto Hemlock Lake Road. Continue on Hemlock Lake Road for 3.6 miles and turn right onto Glen Campbell Road. Travel Glen Campbell Road for 0.1 mile and turn right onto Porterfield Road for 1.2 miles to reach the eastern side of closure.
Kukurin Contracting out of Export will work on the project, which is expected to cost $971,000. The project is expected to wrap up in November.
