Several preliminary hearings are scheduled in Indiana County Court. One will be for man charged with drug possession in April.
Court documents say 38-year-old John Richard Bence, who is currently an inmate at Indiana County Jail, will go before Magisterial Judge Guy Haberl at 10 o’clock to answer for a felony charge of contraband and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance. The charges stem from April 23rd, when police found four stamp bags containing fentanyl between Bence’s toes during a search.
Also scheduled today is the preliminary hearing for 19-year-old Tate Southerland, who will answer to charges of simple assault and harassment dating back to an incident on May 9th. Indiana Borough Police were summoned to an altercation in the 1400 block of Philadelphia Street shortly before midnight. Southerland has been in Indiana County Jail since then as he was unable to post bail.
His hearing will be in front of Judge Haberl at 9:15 a.m.
