Triple A and the State Police are advising people that it will be a very busy holiday travel period for Independence Day.
Triple A is estimating that 50.7 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more during the Independence Day extended weekend, and that will break a record of about 49 million people that was set in 2019. It is also expected to set a record for the number of Americans travelling by car, as 43.2 people are expected to travel for the 4th of July weekend.
State Police say that in anticipation of increased vehicle traffic, troopers across the region will be out in force starting tomorrow and going through the 4th. Troopers will specifically watch for distracted and aggressive driving along with people driving while intoxicated by either drugs or alcohol. They also ask that everyone in the car buckles up as they head out.
