Smoke from the Canadian Wildfires is once again expected to affect air quality in Pennsylvania today.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection announced on Sunday that the entire state will be under a Code Orange Air Quality Action alert until midnight tonight. A Code Orange alert means that certain groups of people, like the elderly, the very young and those suffering from lung and heart conditions will be adversely affected by the air quality today. Those groups are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activity or exercise today.
Residents across the state are also being asked to help reduce pollution by avoiding the use of gas-powered lawn or gardening equipment and avoiding any open burning of leaves, trash and other materials today.
