State Senator Joe Pittman and Representatives Jim Struzzi and Brian Smith announced that the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority received over $6 million in PENNVEST grant money.
The $6,820,650 will be put towards the Water Renovation 21 project, which will result in upgrades to the water treatment and distribution systems in Creekside Borough and in Rayne, Washington and White Townships. This includes the installation of a 35-foot diameter clarifier at the Crooked Creek Water Treatment Plant and the installation of 1200 feet of water line to provide an emergency interconnection with Clymer Borough Municipal Authority drinking water system.
In a statement, Smith said that the funding was needed to “ensure the continued good health of residents and businesses and satisfy violations raised by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.”
PENNVEST is funded through the use of federal funding and prior bond issues by the state as well as proceeds from the Marcellus Shale Impact fee legislation.
