The average cost of a gallon of gas across the nation has reached a four-month high and gas prices in Indiana County have seen a similar spike.
Triple-A reports that over the last month, the national average has jumped 21 cents a gallon to $3.75 as of this morning. Industry experts are blaming the recent heat wave and production cuts are driving prices up. As of today, the price of crude oil is $80.72 a barrel.
The average in Pennsylvania has seen a similar jump of 21 cents a gallon over the last month to $3.86 as of this morning. Indiana County’s average this morning is $3.87, tying it with Cambria and Clearfield Counties. The lowest average in the region is Armstrong County at $3.80. Westmoreland County was the second lowest at $3.86. Jefferson County’s average is the highest in the region at $3.88.
The highest average in the state is Philadelphia County at $3.91, while Columbia County in the eastern part of the state has the lowest average at $3.70.
GasBuddy.com reports that gas prices in Indiana, Homer City, Blairsville and Clymer this morning are $3.89 a gallon.
