Several fire companies were called to the scene of a structure fire in Burrell Township Sunday afternoon.
Indiana County 911 initially dispatched Black Lick, Blairsville, Homer City, Coral-Graceton, and Coal Run/McIntyre firefighters, Citizens’ Ambulance and Team 900 to 1425 Blaire Road around 2:40 PM. Derry Fire Department was called in to assist 11 minutes later and Latrobe crews provided air assist. Crews from Brush Valley, Iselin/West Lebanon, Bradenville, and Coal Run/McIntyre were called for standby detail.
Photos on the Black Lick Fire Department Facebook page show flames coming out of the front of the home while heavy smoke engulfed the rest of it. Details regarding the cause of the fire, the extent of damage, and injuries are unknown at this time.
Along with the fire in Burrell Township, Sunday was a busy day for area firefighters.
Creekside fire crews were summoned to Route 110 in Rayne Township around 4:45 PM for reports of utility lines down. Clyde and Armagh fire departments responded to a physical rescue call in West Wheatfield Township around 7:14 PM. A gas leak was reported along Wayne Avenue in Indiana Borough around 9:41 PM. That summoned Indiana Fire Association members and borough police.
Finally, a vehicle accident was reported along McCormick Road in South Mahoning Township shortly after 11 PM. Plumville firefighters and Citizens’ Ambulance were dispatched. No details are available at this time.
