The Pirates couldn’t get the motor started against the Nationals on Monday night. Joe Block has the recap.
Manager Derek Shelton says the Nationals found their offense against Andre Jackson once they got a closer look at him.
Shelton says CJ Abrams has proven he’s a top prospect since coming to the Nats from the Padres last year in the Juan Soto trade.
Pirates starter Andre Jackson says every game is an education for him.
Game two of the series is tonight. The Pirates, as has become their practice in recent weeks, have not named a starter. The Nats will pitch right-hander Joan Adon.
ALTOONA CURVE
Altoona begins its final series of the season tonight, visiting the Akron Rubberducks for the first of six games. Justin Meis takes the mound for the Curve.
