Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman, Jr. has released the identity of the man killed early Sunday morning at the mass shooting at the Chevy Chase Community Center.
Overman says that 22-year-old Jamar Montae Porterfield Herriot, Jr. of Homestead was killed in the shooting that started around 12:30 AM at a private party held at the community center. The event, put on by 10K Entertainment was listed as an IUP Homecoming after-party, but was not a university-sanctioned event. He said Herriot was pronounced dead at the scene.
From state police in Indiana: Herriot’s family is asking for privacy at this time.
Eight others were injured in the shooting. Two have been released from the hospital, while others are still in the hospital receiving treatment.
Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi said on Indiana in the Morning today that they have had some people come forward with information.
He still stresses that anyone with information, even if it seems insignificant, should call state police at 724-357-1960.
