Former Pirate Tom Walker died yesterday at the age of 74. He played six seasons in MLB, compiling a record of 18-23 with a 3.87 ERA with Montreal, Detroit, St. Louis and California. He retired with the Bucs after Spring Training in 1978.
Walker was also the father of former Pirates second baseman Neil Walker, who spent six seasons in Pittsburgh, and the father-in-law of current bench coach Don Kelly.
Both Tom and Neil were former first-round picks.

The Texas Rangers are moving on to their first World Series since 2011 after beating the Houston Astros, 11-4. Adolis Garcia homered twice, while Corey Seager and Nathaniel Lowe also homered. They will host the winner of the NLCS Friday in Game One of the World Series.
Speaking of, Arizona evened the NLCS after routing Philadelphia, 5-1. Merril Kelly struck out eight hitters over five innings while Ketel Marte collected two hits and two RBI. Game seven is tonight.
