Today is Veterans’ Day, which is set aside to pay tribute to those who served our country, and several events are planned for today in several communities.
In Blairsville, a Veterans’ Day Parade will be held at 10:30 along Market Street from Grandview Avenue to Water Street. The parade will be followed by a memorial service at the Blairsville Veterans Memorial. A luncheon will be hosted by the Blairsville VFW for veterans and families of veterans following the ceremony. And tonight, there will be a special program of patriotic music by the Blairsville Community Band at the River Valley Senior High School Auditorium. Admission the concert is free, but a goodwill donation may be made.
Clymer is also holding a special ceremony for veterans today. That starts at 1:00 today at the Veterans’ Memorial at Tate Park.
And Indiana will have its traditional parade starting at 10:30 going along Philadelphia Street from 5th to 9th Streets. After the parade will be a special ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Wall next to the courthouse to dedicate a new portion of the memorial to build a new wall, and to hold bridge dedication ceremonies for George Holuta and Carl Roof.
