We mark the passing of Alan David Brill, husband of Deborah Dee Brill, son of Charles and Marie Brill.
He was born in McKeesport and spent his youth in Blairsville. Alan worked in the jewelry industry most of his life, save for a time as a young man when he worked on the railroads.
He graduated in 1973 from the University of Pittsburgh, a city in which he loved dearly.
He was an entrepreneur who took pride in being able to eventually open his own businesses.
While Alan was widely regarded as a quiet man, he had many passions and lesser-known facts such as his black belt in American Taekwondo which lent to his love of Kung Fu movies.
He was an avid marksman and taught all three of his son’s firearms safety and proficiency. Blending his love of the sport and his jewelry business, he would always say to “Invest in precious metals. Gold, Silver and Lead.” Beyond these activities, Alan spent time working with the community driving the Ambulance for Shermans Dale Volunteer EMS as well as working with the Fire Police.
Alan is survived by his wife, Deborah; his sons: Aaron (Zeze), Alex (Erin) and Adam Brill (Aubrey); his sister, Sue Willis; sister-in-law, Debra, McLaughlin, and nieces and nephews along with his grandchildren: Tyler, Dmitri and Logan Brill. Alan was preceded in death by his parents and brothers- in-law, Tom McLaughlin and Greg Willis.
The family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 25 W. Market St., Blairsville, PA on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 11-1 PM. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM.
Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA.
Donations can be made in his honor to Shermans Dale Fire Company, 5450 Spring Road, Shermans Dale, PA 17090.
