After a sparsely attended Act 780 Hearing last week on the potential repurposing of the Horace Mann Elementary School, the Indiana Area School District is encouraging residents to make public comment about the building’s future by electronic means. You may fill out a questionnaire online at iasd.cc, and the school board also suggests that you attend their regularly-scheduled committee meetings in the next several months as they examine the various options.
The district is currently in the midst of a 90-day “cooling off” period before they can make any decisions on Horace Mann, and residents can make their views known in the interim.
One such committee meeting will be tomorrow night, when the Academic and Extracurricular Committee gathers for discussion of a number of matters. While Horace Mann is not an agenda item, the academic considerations of a repurposing plan are listed as a non-agenda item, should time permit. The meeting is from 5:30 to 7 PM and you may attend in person or online.
