Indiana Borough Police’s comfort K9 Axel was recently awarded grant funding as part of the “Healthcare for K9 Heroes” program.
According to a news release, Axel was one of 20 K9 officers across the U.S. that received a portion of grant funds from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., which aims to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies. This funding is from their medical insurance program that covers annual policy premiums for K9 officers.
