One of the biggest contributors of the Indiana County Fair has passed away.
Nancy McAfoos, who was the fair historian for nearly 30 years, died Tuesday at her home. She became the fair’s historian in the mid-1990s and was known for her commitment to documenting fair history throughout the last few decades.
Alton Strong with the Indiana County Fair said anytime the fair was in town, McAfoos had her camera ready to document.
Strong adds McAfoos always worked with a smile on her face and a story to tell to visitors.
No word yet if McAfoos will be honored at this year’s fair, but Strong said it will be hard to replace her and that she will truly be missed.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home in Indiana. You can view her full obituary by clicking here.
