Indiana County’s Commissioners earlier today approved the purchase of a house that will be used to help those suffering from opioid addiction.
The request for $200,000 was made by the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission director Kami Anderson and Nicole Wannett with the Indiana County Recovery Center and proprietor of The Bridget House, LLC. Wannett talked about the importance of the house for recovery.
The money would be used to purchase the house and furniture to go in it. Opioid settlement plan money will be used for the project.
The commissioners also approved an arbitration award for the Probation Officers union which covers 16 officers. The four-year agreement will provide wage increases of 4% in the first and last years and 3.5% in years two and three, which is like the agreements with other county unions.
Speaking of the probation officers, the Commissioners proclaimed this week to be Pretrial Probation and Parole week in Indiana County.
