Another “no confidence” vote is expected to take place in early February regarding the leadership of Commonwealth University President Bashar Hanna.
The union membership at Bloomsburg University will vote on the matter after a meeting of its executive council on Thursday. The vote comes on the heels of similar announcements made by Lock Haven’s membership on Wednesday and Mansfield’s on Thursday. Bloomsburg APSCUF President Dr. Eric Hawrelak said in a news release that the decision to take the no-confidence vote “did not come lightly,” but they “can no longer stand idly by as President Hanna and his administration slowly destroy our university.”
Last month, APSCUF President Dr. Kenneth Mash issued a statement calling for Hanna to resign or be fired. This was in response to criticism after Hanna was the subject of a wrongful termination lawsuit brought by former Bloomsburg University Dean Jeffrey Krug. He claimed he was fired as retaliation for helping an administrative assistant file a sexual harassment report against Hanna in 2017.
