Former IUP wide receiver and New York Jets special teamer Irv Charles is sidelined the rest of the year after suffering a torn ACL Sunday against the Dolphins.
Charles went down in the second half and was eventually helped off the field by the medical staff. He underwent tests Wednesday and the team confirmed the tear shortly after 11 AM. Charles had a standout training camp and later emerged as the main gunner for New York’s special teams unit, collecting 12 tackles leading up to his injury.
Charles played 12 games at IUP in 2021, hauling in 39 passes for 792 yards and 12 touchdowns.
