While we have received some rainfall over the weekend, it has not been enough to remove a drought watch status from Indiana County.
Indiana, like 32 other counties in the state, is under a drought watch from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. They include neighboring counties Westmoreland and Clearfield. Berks and Schuykill Counties on the eastern side of the state are under a drought warning. At this time, Blairsville Municipal Authority is still requesting mandatory water conservation efforts.
The drought conditions were first put in place on November 1st. A burn ban remains in effect for now for Indiana County due to the dry conditions.
