The IUP basketball teams hit the floor at the KCAC this afternoon to play PSAC opponent Kutztown. The undefeated IUP women put their 8-0 record on the line against the 4-7 Golden Bears. IUP is 4-0 in the PSAC and Kutztown is 0-3.
Coach Craig Carey says his team is still developing its game and has room to improve, especially in one key aspect.
The young IUP men’s team is 5-5 and 2-2 in the PSAC. They’ve lost four in a row. They also suffered a blow with the news that talented scorer Dallas Dillard will not play this season. He was expected to return before the end of the month after having knee surgery last December, but decided the knee is not sufficiently recovered to risk it. He intends to remain at IUP.
Coach Joe Lombardi says his very inexperienced team will continue to play to win, but also will be working in the weight room to get stronger. He says the Crimson Hawks practices are more centered on learning basketball fundamentals than they are focused on the upcoming opponent.
Kutztown comes into the game today with a 3-6 record, 0-3 in the conference.
