Heritage Conference basketball teams are in their winter break and while some schools will take part in holiday tournaments, conference games are on hold for the holiday.
In the girls’ standings, River Valley leads the west at 6-0 while Marion Center is in second place at 3-0. Both teams will meet January 3rd in a game that will be on Cat Country 106.3 FM. In the east, Portage and Cambria Heights are in a tight race for first as the Mustangs are 4-1 and the Highlanders are 5-2.
United’s boys lead the east at 5-1 while Portage is right behind them at 4-1. Conemaugh Township is 3-0. In the west, West Shamokin and River Valley are tied at 3-2 apiece while Marion Center is 3-3.
In the WPIAL, Indiana’s girls are 6-1 and 2-0 in Section 5A2. They recently fell to Southern Garrett, a school in Maryland, on Saturday, 53-24. They return to the court Friday to take on Hempfield in the Greater Latrobe Holiday Tournament. We’re on the air with that game around 5:45 Friday night.
Indiana’s boys have lost two straight to bring their overall record to 3-4 and conference record to 0-2. They will play in the Deer Lakes Holiday Tournament this Friday.
