Sullivan says the Pens’ sluggish second period cost them the game.
The Penguins’ first period lead came on goals scored on two of their first three shots on goal, by Kevin Hayes and Michael Bunting. Alex Ndeljkovic got the start in goal and stopped 27 of 31 shots.
Defenseman Kris Letang returned to the lineup after missing three games with an undisclosed injury. Forward Philip Thomasino was placed on long term injured reserve with a lower body injury suffered in Friday’s overtime loss at Florida. He is termed “week to week” by the Pens.
The Penguins’ five-game homestand starts tomorrow night with a game against Columbus, followed by Edmonton on Thursday, Ottawa on Saturday, Tampa Bay on Sunday, and Seattle next Tuesday.
