Emma Michelle Newhams, 9 of Josephine, died Tuesday, January 7, 2025 Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born, March 22, 2015 in Indiana, she was the daughter of David J. Newhams and Florence Spaid of Josephine.
She was a 4 th grade student at Blairsville Elementary School. Emma loved to draw and was a very talented artist. She also enjoyed singing, dancing, cooking with her mom, playing with her brothers and building R.C. Cars with her father. She was quite the cosmetologist, Emma loved to apply makeup to herself and to her family and friends, and she always did an excellent job. She was quite simply one of the most caring souls you would have ever met.
In addition to her parents, she is deeply missed by her siblings: Ethan Spaid, Aidan Spaid and Eli Newhams, all living at home, her maternal grandmother, Barbara Spaid, Norfolk, VA , and paternal grandmother Dana Newhams, Verona, PA Other surviving family include her aunts and uncles: Danielle Henry (Matt Ondo); Jack Spaid, Jr. (Vikki), Ian Spaid, Paul Asturi, Samantha Newhams, and Marissa Jacobi(Tristan). She also has two nephews: Ashton Shriver and infant, Noah Spaid. Emma is further missed by her cousins Christian Mintzer(Alysa) Kevin Stefano, and Sydney Campbell whom were more like siblings than cousins to her. Along with many more cousins, her loving dog and cat, Duke and Cupcake and all of her caregivers who became friends and family on 9B.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jack Spaid, Sr. and by two aunts: Michelle Campbell and Mary Spaid.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 15 th from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory of Indiana (965 Phila. St.), where her funeral service will begin at 6:00 PM. with Pastor, Kathy Mihoerck.
Interment will be private at Lutheran Cemetery, Robinson.
