The old cliché played out over the weekend at the KCAC. The thrill of victory for the IUP men and the agony of defeat for the Crimson Hawks’ women.
Coach Joe Lombardi’s men got a buzzer-beating three-pointer from freshman guard Kymani Merraro for a 59-56 win over Seton Hill. He’d hit a reverse layup moments before after the Griffins switched to a man-to-man defense, part of his team-leading 15-point day.
Coach Joe Lombardi says his young team is learning from experience.
Merraro says IUP has a good group of young players who support each other as they learn the college game together.
The IUP women were involved in a tight game all the way to the end, but Seton Hill slowly pulled away for a 67-60 win, thanks in part to IUP having a short bench due to injuries to key inside players.
Coach Craig Carey says his team has to fight through the adversity.
IUP visits Slippery Rock for a doubleheader Wednesday night on 92.5 FM U92.
