Pirates pitchers and catchers are settling in at the Bucs’ complex in Bradenton, Florida today with the first workout of spring training scheduled tomorrow. They’ll start at Pirate City tomorrow and on Monday when the full squad reports, before splitting into Major League camp at LECOM Park and Minor League camp at Pirate City.
The first Grapefruit League game will be in Sarasota against the Orioles on February 22nd.

“The Cobra” will wear a Pirates cap in Cooperstown. The National Baseball Hall of Fame yesterday announced the caps that will be depicted on the plaques of this year’s inductees, and Dave Parker chose his Bucco ballcap. He spent the first eleven years of his MLB career with the Pirates before playing for the Reds, A’s, Brewers, Blue Jays, and Angels.
Of the other new Hall of Famers, Dick Allen’s engraving will have him in a Phillies cap, CC Sabathia will wear a Yankees cap, Ichiro Suzuki will represent the Mariners and Billy Wagner the Astros.
