A person serving life in prison for the killing of Hayden Gareffa will be back in court today.
A post-conviction relief act hearing is scheduled today for 20-year-old Taylyn Edwards of Johnstown. She pleaded guilty but mentally ill to charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping to facilitate a felony in connection with the incident on October 20th of 2022. She along with six other adults and a juvenile were charged in connection with his death. Prosecutors say they lured him out of his grandmother’s home, abducted him and stabbed him multiple times before leaving him in the tall grass off Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township.
As part of his plea, Edwards is receiving mental health treatment while in prison.
