The NHL is on a two-week hiatus for the 4 Nations Face-off but the Penguins front office remains active.
The team acquired forward Mathias Laferriere from St. Louis in exchange for minor leaguer Corey Andonovski. The 24-year-old was the Blues’ sixth-round pick in 2018 and is signed through the season. He tallied two goals, eight assists, and 10 points in 33 games with the Thunderbirds this season.
In four seasons in the AHL, Laferriere netted 21 goals and 70 points in 207 games.
He will report to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
