While flu numbers remain high for Pennsylvania, the disease’s pace continues to decline.
As of March 22nd, the Pennsylvania Department of Health said 212,590 cases of lab-confirmed influenza were reported in Pennsylvania for the season that started on September 29th. The percentage of emergency room visits resulting in a diagnosis of flu is going down for all age groups, as is the number of new hospital admissions for adult and pediatric patients. 839 flu-related deaths were reported in Pennsylvania.
For Indiana County this year so far, there have been 673 cases of flu reported.
Allegheny County still has the highest flu count this season so far with 19,545. Other hotbeds of flu activity have been Erie County and a cluster of counties in the southeast area of the state.
As far as RSV numbers go, 44,701 lab confirmed cases were reported in Pennsylvania, with 119 of those cases coming out of Indiana County.
