They will also be watching the New York Rangers, who are in danger of missing the playoffs. The Rangers’ top draft pick was traded to Vancouver, which then swapped it to Pittsburgh in the Marcus Petterson deal at the trade deadline. The Rangers must decide whether to protect that pick or let Pittsburgh have it. If they keep it, the Pens get New York’s number one next year, unprotected.

Former Penguins star goaltender Greg Millen passed away yesterday at the age of 67. He also played for Hartford, St. Louis, Quebec, Chicago, and Detroit over 14 seasons, and was an analyst for Hockey Night in Canada on the CBC and Sportsnet after his retirement.
