As expected, Ed Dalton was hired last night to take over the River Valley football program, by a vote of 5-4.
Dalton began his career as the Purchase Line football coach and led the Red Dragons to the District 6 championship in 1990 and making it all the way to the state semifinals. PL won 18 straight games and two conference championships during his tenure. He’s also coached at Mount pleasant, Altoona, Trinity, and McGuffey, reviving all four programs after years of losing.
In four seasons under former coach Jess Houser since the establishment of the River Valley program, the Panthers have gone 8-3, 1-9, 8-3, and 8-3.
