A bill that would legalize recreational marijuana through state-owned stores is dead in the Pennsylvania Senate.
A Republican-led State Senate committee rejected the bill yesterday after it passed in the Pennsylvania House. Law and Justice Committee Leader State Senator Dan Laughlin said selling marijuana through state stores would unfairly shut out the private sector and small businesses. Laughlin added that he supports the legalization of marijuana in the commonwealth, but the state store model will not pass in the chamber.
