Plea and sentencing hearing hearings are scheduled today for Indiana County Court, including the sentencing for a man facing arson charges.
Court documents show 30-year-old Kailum Miller of Indiana pleaded guilty but mentally ill to four counts of arson-danger of death or bodily injury and a single count of risking a catastrophe for a fire that started in the late-night hours of February 12th, 2024 at an apartment complex at 310 Maple Street. Authorities say he lit a mattress and coat on fire with a small lighter before fleeing. While no injuries were reported, the fire displaced three people. He was arrested by police later on.
Plea court is scheduled today for 24-year-old Reed Thomas Tantlinger of Homer City, who is charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI, two counts of DUI-controlled substance, accidents where a victim dies and other crimes. Police say on January 7th of 2023, he was involved in a crash on Route 422 in Pine Township. He reportedly rear-ended the vehicle driven by 25-year-old Hunter McCloskey, which pushed the vehicle into several boulders and a utility pole. Tantlinger fled the scene, but was found later at a relative’s house.
