On the injury front, Pirates catcher Joey Bart is now on the concussion injured list. He was taken out of the game on May 27th after a backswing hit him in the head. No word on when he will return to action. Colin Holderman is on the 15-day DL as he suffered an inflamed tendon in his right thumb. He received a cortisone injection and will not throw a baseball for seven days. Johan Oviedo continues to recover from his UCL surgery, and is throwing side sessions with no issues. The team looks to put him in batting practice in the next week or so.
Nick Gonzales is on a rehab assignment with Indianapolis and was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI in Indy’s loss to Nashville yesterday 9-6. Matt Frazier was one for three with an RBI. Liover Peguero was one for four with a double and three RBI’s.
