Saturday featured some extra baseball for the Altoona Curve, which completed Friday’s game, taking a 9-3 loss to Erie, but rebounded for a 9-7 win in the regularly scheduled game, helped by a grand slam by Nick Cimillo and a walk-off two-run homer by Brenden Dixon.
Starter Wilbur Dotel had a rare struggle on the mound for the Curve in the Friday game, giving up two home runs, three runs overall, in five innings. Sean Sullivan relieved and took the loss, surrendering two runs, one earned, in three innings.
In the regularly scheduled game, the Curve had only four hits (by two players) but two of them sailed over the fences. Cimillo, the designated hitter, had two hits including the grand slam. Dixon’s homer came in the eighth inning of the scheduled seven-inning game.
