Betty passed away peacefully, April 28, 2025, at the Gardens in Indiana, PA. Born October 23, 1929, in Logansport, IN, she was the youngest of five children of Fred Lee and Ella Wise Johnson. On July 3, 1949, she married Charles David Schellberg, who preceded her in death April 28, 2001.
After graduating from Logansport High School in 1947, she attended Indiana University and Indiana Business College. She was employed as secretary to the Chairman of the Dept. of Orthodontics at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, IN.
While living in Indiana she was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority and served as State President and National Historian of Tau Phi Lambda Sorority.
The family moved to Meadville, PA in 1966 where she served as secretary-treasurer of Schellberg Machinery, Inc., manufacturers’ representatives, until retirement in 1995.
A member of First Presbyterian Church, Meadville, she served as deacon, circle leader and moderator of Presbyterian Women. She was a Past-President of Kiwanis Ladies, a member of Meadville Women’s Club, and a member of Golden Crown Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. She was also active with Girl Scout Troops in Aurora, IN and in Meadville.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, crossword puzzles and especially spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include children, David B. (Lora Hunt) Schellberg, and Donna K. (James) Cupp, both of Indiana, PA. Grandchildren include Vicki and Ann Schellberg, Jacqueline Cupp (William Evans), Jennifer (Anthony) Lechner and David Cupp (fiancé Abagail Sleppy). Great-grandchildren include Olivia, Cameron, Evelyn and Emelia Lechner and Eliza, Daphne and Phoebe Schellberg. Also surviving are two nephews, Arthur and James Jeffries.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by siblings John A. Johnson, Lt. Fred Lee Johnson, Jr., James J. Johnson and Jeanne J Jeffries and nephew Allan Jeffries.
Friends will be received by the family on Friday, June 6, 2025, in the Bowser Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 10:30 AM, The inurnment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Farmington, IL, at a later date.
