A man from Long Beach, California pleaded guilty in federal court for his part in a drug trafficking setup that included Indiana County.
62-year-old Derrick Polk entered guilty pleas to two counts of a superseding indictment on Wednesday. The plea advised the court that he was involved in the drug ring from April of 2019 to July of 2021 in Western PA. He conspired with others to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture of methamphetamine. Polk was intercepted on a federal wiretap obtaining quantities of drugs to distribute.
He was one of 31 people arrested in connection with the ring, which included Ruby Gil of Indiana, who was ordered to serve up to 9 years in prison for her part in the drug ring. Polk’s sentencing will be on September 24th, and he faces between 10 years and life in prison, a fine of up to $10 million or both.
