The light rain on Saturday did not deter people from celebrating at the Indiana PRIDE festival.

This year marks the third year for the event put on by the Indiana PRIDE Alliance. The group’s president, Jeffrey Boden, said that attendance has continued to grow each year, and he talked about how important it was to continue to grow.
The annual PRIDE festival fell on the same day as the No Kings rallies being held across the U.S. to protest the policies of the Trump Administration. Indiana’s rally was put on by the county’s Democratic Committee, and county chairperson Lynne Alvine said she initially did not want to detract from the festival.
Those taking part in the No Kings event marched up to 8th Street to peacefully protest in front of the courthouse, with crowds on both sides of Philadelphia Street.
Alvine estimated about 250 people took part in the demonstration.
