Multiple events are scheduled for Downtown Indiana today, and people are being advised to be aware of increased traffic and heightened emotions.
Two gatherings will be held today at IRMC Park from noon to 5 today. One is the third annual Indiana PRIDE Festival. As part of that, the Indiana County Democratic Committee will hold their “No Kings: Nationwide Day of Defiance” event. Not only will the No Kings rally be in support of the LGBTQ+ community, but will also protest the actions of the Trump administration. In the official event announcement from the Democratic party, they are asking people to be supportive of the PRIDE Festival and not to engage with any detractors.
As the event will be in IRMC Park, that portion of North 7th Street will be closed off for the day.
Indiana Borough Police say that there will be an increased police presence, both seen and unseen during today’s events, and they also ask people to be kind and supportive to their efforts to keep everyone safe.
