Robert Angelo Leonardo, 86 of Indiana, died Monday, June 16, 2025 at St. Andrew’s Village, Indiana. Born, August 9, 1938 in Indiana, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Angelo and Leota Pittman Leonardo. Bob graduated from Indiana high school in 1957. After graduating, he decided to sew his wild oats by going to Wildwood New Jersey and working with a friend at a taffy shop for the summer. Bob returned to Indiana and then attended Central Westmoreland Technical School in Youngwood PA with his brother Bill, achieving his apprenticeship in masonry.
Bob was a member of the Bricklayers Allied Craftsmen Local 9 and became a journeyman bricklayer and worked for various contractors through the years.
In 1962 Bob welcomed a Son Robert Leonardo Junior (Bobby), who was then followed by James (66), Angela (70), and Lisa (73).
In 1982, he married Shirley Vehovic, and they built a beautiful home in Home PA. Bob enjoyed working on his house, meeting friends for breakfast and watching his beloved Steelers and Penguins. Bowling with the Knights of Columbus was also a favorite pastime.
In 2016 Shirley lost her battle with Parkinson’s and Bob moved to Saint Andrews Village after suffering a stroke. He made the best of his new life by charming the Nurses and everyone who took a minute to visit him
Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Bobby Leonardo (Karen), Jim Mitchell (Carrie), Angela Vadala’ (Antonio), and Lisa Grill (John). His brother Bill Leonardo (Madeline) and sister Amy Leonardo. And his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the devoted staff of St Andrews Village. Bob received amazing care and friendship for which we are eternally grateful.
Bob will always be remembered for his humor, colorful language and ability to charm those who came into his life.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18th from 4 to 6 PM at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory, 965 Phila St., Indiana. A funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, Indiana. Father Richard Owens, OFM Cap., officiant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
