Farms can also be adversely affected by flooding, and one county farm has reported many acres of crops destroyed by yesterday’s rain.
Dan Yarnick at Yarnick’s Farm in Indiana said that the rains flooded a lot of the crops in the lower fields, and he said the damage was extensive and with cost of farming being high, it means a loss of a lot of money that was put into the business for this year.
He says that they still have some crops in their upper fields that were not flooded out, so it’s not a total washout.
The heavy rain came just a few days after they announced the first harvest of sweet corn for the season.
