The Pirates and Tigers were rained out last night and will play a doubleheader today in Detroit. It could have been a matchup of baseball’s two best pitchers, but instead Detroit’s Tarik Skubal, last year’s American League Cy Young Award winner, will face the Pirates’ Andrew Heaney in the first game and the Tigers have not named their starter for game two against Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes.
We’re on the air at 12:10 for the first game, with first pitch at 12:35. The pregame for the nightcap begins at 5:15, with first pitch at 5:40.
The Pirates yesterday placed Bryan Reynolds on the paternity list and recalled outfielder/first baseman Billy Cook from Indianapolis. Cook is hitting .271 for Indy this year but he’s been hot in June, leading the International League with 22 hits while batting.442 with a .529 on-base percentage.
KONNOR GRIFFIN STILL HOT
Konnor Griffin’s hitting streak is now at fourteen games after a 2-for-5 night with a double and a run driven in in Greensboro’s 6-1 win over Greenville.
