Representatives from ICTC and River Valley School District have issued statements concerning Judge Thomas Bianco’s decision to deny the school district’s attempt to terminate its contract with the vo-tech school.
In a ruling earlier this month, Indiana County’s President Judge denied two arguments from River Valley officials. One claimed the district’s contract had no listed end date, and was able to be terminated “at will”. The other was that upon termination of the contract, ICTC must sell River Valley its one-seventh share of the technical school and pay that money back to the district. A motion by ICTC that stated requiring approval from every member district to withdraw from the consortium counts as the contract’s end date and that River Valley’s argument was irrelevant was also denied by the judge.
River Valley Superintendent Philip Martel said the district will respect Judge Bianco’s decision, but it is not the end of their work to try leave the ICTC.
ICTC’s Administrative Director Mike McDermott issued a statement saying “The matter is still in litigation . We will continue our program at ICTC with River Valley as a member district. Any further comment would not be appropriate. “
