The NHL has officially released the order for this year’s draft, which gets underway on Friday. As of now, the Penguins will have ten picks, but that could change. They hold the 11th overall selection in the first round, the 59th pick, in the second round, and three picks in the third round, numbers 73, 84, and 85. They will pick 105th overall in the fourth round, then have two more picks in the fifth round, numbers 130 and 148, and single picks in the sixth round (number 169) and seventh round (number 201).
Depending on the New York Rangers’ decision, they could also get the 12th overall pick or the Rangers’ first round choice next year. The Rangers have to decide by tomorrow.
The Penguins have also announced their annual prospect development camp, which will be held July 3rd through the 7th at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry. They’ll hold morning and afternoon sessions each day through the 6th, including on Independence Day, and then conclude the camp with a four-on-four tournament on the 7th. The roster of invitees will be announced after the draft. The prospect camp is free to attend.
