As expected, the Pirates made a bunch of changes to the Altoona Curve roster prior to last night’s game. Pitcher Jarod Bayless was sent down to Greensboro, while pitchers Brandon Bidois, Antwone Kelly, Tyler Samaniego, and Ryan Harbin were promoted from Greensboro to Altoona, along with infielder Duce Gourson. Outfielder Hudson Head was placed on the development list, which usually means a trip to Florida for instruction.
The Curve then went out and rallied for a 6-3 win over Chesapeake. Trailing 3-2 after six innings, Mitch Jebb singled in the game-tying run and Termarr Johnson hit a sacrifice fly to plate the go-ahead run. Newly-arrived Ryan Harbin then threw one-and-two-thirds innings of perfect relief, striking out three. Between Greensboro and Altoona, he’s not allowed a run since May 17th. Jase Bowen had two hits for the Curve and Aaron McKeithan hit a home run. Blake Townsend starts for Altoona tonight.
